We are thrilled to share our IPO Trends report!  It's the first of many to help demystify the capital markets for all. After a very active 2020, we have many companies hitting the ground running in 2021:

  • Health care companies were the most active with 112 IPOs, while technology issuers raised the most funds accounting for 45% of total 2020 proceeds.

  • SPACs became more mainstream in 2020, with 248 SPACs raising over $83 billion

  • YTD 2021, 57 issuers have raised over $21 billion in IPO proceeds.

  • Recent IPOs include BumbleOscar HealthScore Media and GamingAffirm, among others. 

  • Upcoming highly anticipated IPOs include Roblox (3/10) and Coinbase (direct listing) this month. 

  • SPACs have been very active, with 189 SPACs raising over $59 billion, but everyone is watching how they will perform in this new market environment.

Filed IPOs
ThredUp, a San Francisco-based clothing resale marketplace, filed for a $100 million IPO. It plans to list on the Nasdaq (TDUP) and reports a $48 million net loss on $186 million in revenue for 2020 (vs. $38M net loss on $164M in revenue for 2019). ThredUp raised over $330 million from firms like Trinity Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Highland Capital Partners, Upfront Ventures, Goldman Sachs, Irving Investors, and Park West Asset Management. http://axios.link/BCHC


LATAM

Alpha Capital announced today that it has closed its $230 million initial public offering on the Nasdaq Capital Market (“Nasdaq”), trading under the ticker symbol “ASPCU”. The special purpose acquisition company (“SPAC”) will use the funds to seek a business combination with a Latin American-focused technology company. Alpha announced pricing last Thursday.
